Description xk5kiga8n 2024-06-17 02:43:36 UTC
I have a video I've been editing and have successfully exported once. I was changing some effects on the video portion and noticed the second audio track is no longer playing when the video reaches them. I can add the clip to the project bin and listen to the audio there, but it's not in the preview, so I would hazard to guess it will not render.
I will attempt to render just to see if it does so properly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add audio
2. Mysteriously have audio stop playing while previewing
3. Sadness

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Flatpak Kdenlive 24.05.0 on Fedora Linux 40, tried on Wayland and Xorg

I rendered just in case it would work after render, and nope. Kdenlive pretends as though the clips is muted, no matter what I try in the GUI.

Another bit of info: If I look at the audio, it shows the track has volume to it, but nothing is showing in the master.

Did you check whether the track is muted (I know, I'm asking the obvious), the project monitor is muted, the render option includes audio (there is a checkmark!), there is no effect on the audio track and/or clip.

It would help if you could provide screenshots of the timeline, the effect stack(s), the render settings, etc. Thanks!

Ok, so I have no idea what happened, but today, kdenlive opens fine, but if I try to move it to a different screen, or modify the window in any way, the bottom quarter of the window is gone, showing the desktop behind it. It also locks up and is unable to be closed without a killall command.
So I decided, that's fine, I'll just get the RPM version. Surely, it will work better, being packaged for Fedora specifically. This version has no dark mode, and now over half of my videos are just white screens with audio. The audio sections that were not playing are still not playing. And the video monitor is not playing anything at all.

Sorry to hear that. I came across several posts in other forums about Fedora being very finicky. In all cases Kdenlive caused many issues in all areas (UI, performance, rendering). Can't remember whether it's possible to run appimages on Fedora, but any package (flatpak, snap, RPM) seems to have issues. I am afraid that there is not a lot of help available for your distro ...

kdenlive on manjaro

Ok, so here's the latest manjaro with kdenlive installed from the official repository. videos and such are back. the section of audio on A1 that are not grouped have no sound, but will show sound existing if I swap over to the sound level editing view... thing.

Hi and sorry for the bad experience. Could you share the .kdenlive project file ? And maybe the problematic source clip ? That would help us debug the issue

kdenlive project file

Here's the file. I can't share the clip file, as it's over an hour long. If I extract those smalls sections of audio that stopped playing, they work, in kdenlive even! But the second I put them back on the timeline, they laugh at me.

I appreciate all the comments and desire to try and help on this one. I found out what's causing the audio to disappear. I have Shape Alpha (Mask) so I can make my small thumbnail video have nice rounded corners. If I use that in tandem with Position and Zoom AND have the mask effect above the zoom, audio stops working on the clip. If I put it under the zoom effect, audio now works, but the mask effect is now broken.

How should I go about reporting that bug?

Please use the effect Transform instead of Position and Zoom as Position and Zoom has some known issues. Does it fix the issue?

Use the official Kdenlive flatpak from flathub https://flathub.org/apps/org.kde.kdenlive
