SUMMARY

I was using Dolphin and suddenly I ended up with the mouse cursor having a random icon that doesn't match its current status, as seen in the screenshot.
No matter how much I clicked on random places (even those where the icon should match the current wrong one, i.e. on dragging the vertical separator between panels within the window), the cursor wouldn't go back to normal.

The mouse cursor was ok outside of Nautilus, only when I would bring it inside the Nautilus window it wouls switch to this wrong cursor.

I had to restart Nautilus to get the cursor back to normal.

What screenshot?
Comment 3 php4fan 2024-07-03 16:44:42 UTC
I guess I forgot to attach it, and now I don't have it anymore. If this bug tracker supported pasting images this would be less likely to happen.

Anyway, it just showed a Nautilus window with the wrong mouse cursor. It was the drag-to-move-vertical-edge-left-and-right cursor while the cursor was not over a draggable vertical edge and should have been the default arrow.
Comment 4 Andreas Sturmlechner 2024-07-03 16:48:00 UTC
But you can't reproduce the problem any longer?
Comment 5 php4fan 2024-07-03 17:10:18 UTC
It never was a problem that I could reproduce at will.

It happened once randomly.
I guess it's some sort of race condition.
