On openSuse Leap 15.5, the latest update of ksmserver to 5.27.9 brought a regression where every X11 program I start in a konsole prints some authentication error. E.g. starting kwrite: Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported starting xclock: Warning: Tried to connect to session manager, None of the authentication protocols specified are supported Since I have seen that something was changed w.r.t. auth in ksmserver, I cross-checked by reinstalling an older version of ksmserver: 5.27.4.1 and see - no more auth errors! Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.5 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 Kernel Version: 5.14.21-150500.55.65-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11850H @ 2.50GHz Memory: 30,6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA RTX A2000 Laptop GPU/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: HP Product Name: HP ZBook Fury 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC
Do the apps fail to launch or exhibit functional regressions? Or is there no apparent issue seen other than the logging?
functionality wise I have not seen a difference, except that it seems the apps did not save/restore their existence in a session. E.g. kmail, korganizer running when logging out did not start again when loggin in again. (Although I did not verify this since I now use the older version of ksmserver)
