Description FPF 2024-06-06 16:52:49 UTC
SUMMARY
I use a portable CD player and have burned CDs and DVDs for data backup and iso files as well. Now I tried to burn a music CD today and I get an INSUFFICIENT PERMISSIONS error for all the burning applications in K3B. This has occurred for me in the past again for no reason with an installed Optical Drive and upgrading the OS solved the problem I THOUGHT until now. The option to change permissions in K3B SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK AND DOES NOT ALLOW PERMISSIONS TO BE CHANGED. Why have the option if it does not work? I am the only user on this system with administrative permissions so I don't get it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. HA! Load K3B and the error appears.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
NOTHING allowed

EXPECTED RESULT
Burning the CD??!!!

Well I just guessed at this. I opened synaptic and reinstalled the 3 parts of the K3B system which were lacking permissions, Wodim, cdrcao (i think getting senile these days) and the 3rd one I cannot remember but it corrected the error message and I was able to burn a music CD and am again happy since I will also be able to burn backup data CDs again. Must have gotten corrupted somehow.
Thanks
