Created attachment 170122 [details] Recent kwin_wayland crashes from coredumpctl and info from the latest SUMMARY Every 1-3 days since upgrading to Plasma 6 kwin_wayland crashes with a segfault. It happens with or without user activity, at seemingly random times of the day or night -- though in several cases the crashes corresponded to first usages in the morning. This is an issue new to Plasma 6 -- no such crashes occurred previously on 5.27. The recovery process does reinstate any running KDE apps, but obviously any others are killed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Boot the machine. 2. Wait. OBSERVED RESULT Eventual segfault and crash, leading to the forcible closure of all non-KDE apps followed by kwin recovery. EXPECTED RESULT No segfaults. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0 Qt Version: 6.7.1 Kernel Version: 6.9.2-1-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 48 × AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7960X 24-Cores Memory: 125.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Attached are a list of recent crashes and the details of the most recent, both provided by coredumpctl. The traces in all crashes look to be similar.
Thanks for your report, unfortunately there is nothing in that backtrace that is actionable. In the backtrace, we just have some boilerplate showing that it is /going/ to dispatch something to kwin code, then the rest is missing. Either try to ensure all kwin debug symbols are present and get a new trace, or we can wait it out and hope another report fixes the same issue
