SUMMARY It is impossible to open the "Camera" filesystem on an iPhone or iPad in Plasma 6. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect an iPhone or an iPad to a PC running KDE Plasma 6. 2. In the "Disks & Devices" pop-up, select "Camera -> Open in File Manager" OBSERVED RESULT A new Dolphin window opens showing the default location (in my case, my home folder). The "Camera" filesystem does not show up in the list of mounted devices in the sidebar. EXPECTED RESULT A new Dolphin window opens showing the "Camera" filesystem on the connected device. The "Camera" filesystem appears in the list of mounted devices. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240524 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.9.1-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I can manually mount the camera filesystem on the connected device using libimobiledevice and fusermount, so the problem is definitely on KDE's side.
The issue still persists after update to kf6-kio-6.6.0 (openSUSE TW 20240916)
I can confirm the bug on Fedora: Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.13.5-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland However, by clicking on "Disks & Devices" pop-up and selecting "Show photos in the file manager" instead of just "Open in File Manager", it opens Dolphin with URL 'camera:/'. But even this behavior is not intended: it should open the complete URL of the device within camera PTP or MTP mode, not just camera:/
