*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY Discover reports 0 items installed STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. While upgrading from Kubuntu 23.01 to 24.04, I unchecked the "Unsupported sources" button in Discover. That caused it to lose track of the installed software, which now shows Installed: 0. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Discover sees no installed packages. EXPECTED RESULT It should show the installed packages I have. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Kernel: 6.8.0-31-generic (64-bit)
Please get in touch with Kubuntu. "Unsupported sources" is not one of our features and your version of discover is lagging behind.
OK, will do. I don't understand how my version of Discover was "lagging," since I had applied all recommended updates. Would that be a failure of Kubuntu to bundle the right version of Discover? Or did they add the 'sources' feature on top? In any case, it wasn't a small problem -- this bug crashed my system so badly that I lost the OS and all of my software and had to reinstall it from scratch.
