SUMMARY Some releases share names and are compilations (Various Artists) and it is a chore and sometimes even impossible to find with the MusicBrainz release importer, whereas using the release UUID (or the whole URL) would get it done inmediately STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open Import from MusicBrainz release 2. try to lookup https://musicbrainz.org/release/bc3adcd4-4720-4e03-ab39-64c6d6b4b86b OBSERVED RESULT I can't find https://musicbrainz.org/release/bc3adcd4-4720-4e03-ab39-64c6d6b4b86b in the list by searching Sampler Vol. 1 | Various Artists and anyways it is very impractical and confusing as there are many similarly called releases EXPECTATIONS being able to paste bc3adcd4-4720-4e03-ab39-64c6d6b4b86b or https://musicbrainz.org/release/bc3adcd4-4720-4e03-ab39-64c6d6b4b86b for instantly getting the data SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240508 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.8.8-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I filled that release manually on the musicbrainz website and it is a pain I can't fetch the tags because it is a common name when I have the UUID which would perfectly and instantly get me the data I uploaded to musicbrainz
This was already implemented with commit be999e8e6f4f0944f51f0e65bca364b465951c9a "Support enter URL as search into import dialog (Discogs, ...)", see BUG 453270. You can open the MusicBrainz import dialog and then enter a MusicBrainz URL in the first search field and click "Find", you will then find a single entry with exactly that release in the results list. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 453270 ***
