After the Kubuntu Upgrade from 23.10 to 24.04 the native KDE apps respect the set global scaling factor, whereas the rest of the apps (Firefox, Thunderbird, Easystroke, …) are scaled too large. Operating System: Kubuntu 23.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 6.5.0-35-generic (64-bit)
Does the issue reproduce in a new clean user account on the same machine? If not, then the problem is caused by some configuration in your current user account, possibly an old workaround for scaling issues in the past that later got fixed, and then the workaround broke. We see that a lot.
Thank you, Nate, for looking into this! Unfortunately yes, the issue is the same with a new clean user account too. I tested it with cairo-dock. With 100% or 150% global scaling the dock looks and works just fine. Whereas with 168,75% and some others it is horribly distorted.
This seems like it's most likely to be an issue in cairo-dock TBH. Does the distortion with that scale factor also affect other GTK apps in the same way in the new user account?
Created attachment 170802 [details] Screenshot of Scaling-Problem "Does the distortion with that scale factor also affect other GTK apps in the same way in the new user account?" For instance with Firefox and Thunderbird: The functionality is good, but they are scaled too large too. And I found out, that Cairo-Dock functions in fallback-mode fine too, but is also scaled too large. Here is a screenshot of the 3 with the software-manager in comparison.

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #5) > > KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8 > Oh, this was fixed in 5.27.11 IIRC. Well, for me the problem occurred, when upgrading from Kubuntu 23.10 to 24.04, i.e. from Plasma 5.27.8 to 5.27.11. (In the system-info above I put the version I started the upgrade with. Sorry, if this was the wrong way.) If this was a bug and it got fixed now, shouldn't the situation become better, not worse? Or could this actually explain the ugly picture in the screenshot?
Oh I see, you mis-reported the version to be the old version, not the new one. TBH I don't see the problem in your screenshot; everything looks to be roughly the same size to me, except for Cairo-Dock which is clearly an issue in that app. Any chance you could attach a new screenshot that shows the issue more clearly?
