Created attachment 169831 [details] ERROR RENAME FILES DIGIKAM *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I don't know if this is the correct place to report my bug, but I believe it will reach the interested recipient. I'm a photographer and I use Digikam latest version, 8.1.0 to select and classify my images, lately I needed to rename some files and I came across the problem that it was not possible to rename files in batch, a basic function in any program related to editing images, especially for a program as efficient as this, it seems to me more like a Swiss army knife with so many functions it has, in my opinion this is very good, because it gives us more possibilities, I therefore ask that you correct the problem in the next version. I attached a screenshot of the screen showing the error. Grateful.

Hi, The function exists. Press F2 to popup the advanced renamed dialog in digiKam. https://docs.digikam.org/en/main_window/image_view.html#renaming-a-photograph Gilles Caulier
This is not a bug, the files are marked in red and renaming is not possible because the files are not unique in name. digiKam offers many options to make filenames unique, you could add a date option or a simple counter, such as "gess-####". The files would now be continuously renamed "gess-001", "gess-002", "gess-003" etc. There is help in the renaming dialog about possible options and modifiers. Maik
