*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY Can't use keyboard to easily select emoji to copy anymore Prior version of emojier (5.x unsure of my exact version prior to system update ), the initial cursor started in the search bar and tab allowed switching to the resulting emoji for selection. Right now, I have to STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. press the emojier shortcut (command + .) 2. (notice the cursor isn't assuming search anymore) 3. press Tab twice to get to search and press enter to open search bar 4. type any emoji of your choosing and try to tab into the emoji display area to select one OBSERVED RESULT can't easily use keyboard to select emoji EXPECTED RESULT emojier window should remember last used sidebar item selected, and if search, cursor shouldn't be in the sidebar, but in the search box for easy input. Tab should allow cursor to move to emoji selector area. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.6.30-2-MANJARO KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Was asked to file bug report https://lemmy.kde.social/post/1302562
Actually, you can just start typing and it will go automatically into search mode. However, I am missing the ability to select emoji using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Definitely missing that from the 5.x emoji selector.
Same here. After search for e.g. "grin" I'd like to select the one with the closed eyes & lots of teeth. At the moment I can use neither the arrow keys to select it, nor can I use tab to set the focus on the results pane. In earlier versions I could directly move selection while focus was still in the search bar, making selection very, very quick. Now I have to use the mouse, which really disrupts the typing flow. Arch Linux, package plasma-desktop 6.0.5-1

You're right; for some reason I made this overly complex when I tried to type this up, and items 2 and 3 can be removed from this report. I blame the lack of coffee ;)
This is the same issue as bug #491028 - which is later but simpler while being otherwise the same. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 491028 ***
