*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY The dock hides some icons but hovering it shows them back temporarily. If you take the mouse out of the dock, those specific icons are hidden again. I noticed that the icons that display this behavior are applications that were 'restored' from the previous X session (I'm using X11 rather than wayland and I can't tell if this happens on wayland as well). In all the previous versions of latte-dock, this behavior never happened (I don't know the version specifics of the previous versions that I used, but I was using latte-dock with the same configurations since [K]Ubuntu 21.04 , and now I'm with 23.10 and this happened after I upgraded from 23.04 to 23.10 which is running the latte-dock 0.10.8) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 'Cold' reboot the device (via 'reboot' cli command, battery outage or power cord unplug) 2. Boot it back in and log on 3. Hover the mouse arrow over the dock (assuming it has the behavior of increasing the icons [macOS style] sizes as it's been hovered (IDK if it happens if you don't) OBSERVED RESULT As you mouse hover over the icons, some (few) 'hidden' icons appears all of sudden and if you take the mouse arrow out of the dock, they disappear again. It is pretty annoying. And those icons are from applications that were automatically restored from the previous X session. EXPECTED RESULT To be able to hover the icons normally, without the dock being resized all the time just to accommodate those 'hidden' icons. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 23.10 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Thank you for the bug report! However Plasma 0.10.8 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE; supported versions are 5.27, and 5.27 or newer. Please upgrade to a supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one. If you need support for Plasma 0.10.8, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no longer supported by KDE. If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
The bug janitor service is pretty mad, it misunderstood the latte-dock version with the Plasma version. I'm using Plasma 5.27.8, so yeah, mainstream I guess.
