Created attachment 169312 [details] a screencast of the behavior I create a new empty panel. I enter the Panel edit mode and move the panel to the right. the panel is displayed on the left instead. Moving it to the left (unchanged) and then to the right works. But actually also just after moving it to the right, and it being displayed on the left, if I exit the edit mode the panel appears on the right correctly. See the attached video. There are even more breakages with this panel on the right side, another issue. Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.8.8-300.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics
log from the other bug https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169315
I can reproduce on Master. This happens for me with a default panel at the bottom and 16:9 aspect ratio. Only on wayland. Looks like there is not enough space for the panel on the right side so kwin moves it somewhere else. Using different settings, this doesn't happen. For example making the new panel non floating before moving it, aspect ratio 16:10, smaller bottom panel size, no panel at the bottom etc...
Henning, are you still able to reproduce this at all in wither Plasma 6.1.4 or current git master? I cannot, and have never been able to, and a lot of code has changed with respect to panels since the issue was reported. Or you, Duha, can you also still reproduce it?
I can no longer reproduce, neither in 6.1.4 nor in git master. Marking as resolved. Henning if you can still reproduce please reopen.
thanks for testing this again! I keep a bookmark and notify you if I can reproduce again
