Dolphin lost file association annotated screenshot

SUMMARY
***
Two things happened without user intervention:
1. Dolphin suddenly, for unknown reason, lost file association and it cannot be re-associated via right click, i.e:
2. Settings in Dolphin (right click) do not work to re-apply the system-wide MIME Type/Media Type association, despite "associated" program being there in the list.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE / OBSERVED RESULT
My example here is "afile.mp4", where I noticed this behavior (might be after recent KDE update).

1. Open Dolphin
2. Click on any "video.mp4" file in Dolphin (file is correct type and has correct extension).
3. Nothing happens (suddenly after update, where previously all worked on the same file)
Then try to fix the lost file association:
4. Right click on the "video.mp4" file and chose "Properties"
5. Chose "Open With >> Change..." (because suddenly NOTHING was associated with this file type)
6. The associated software (here SMPlayer as an example) is in the list (just like before update) along with mpv, vlc,.. in the list. Nothing has changed. But it doesn't work anymore. Click "OK"
7. File "something.mp4" is not associated. Association with the corresponding file type also stopped working.

To be precise: the corresponding settings in system-wide settings to set MIME Type/Media type do still work.

EXPECTED RESULT
Whatever happened in new Dolphin update, it has media type/mime type association broken and needs to be thoroughly examined. It also is not corresponding to system-wide settings where media type re-association worked. Expected: Reverting changes in Dolphin so it does not loose mime type/media type association out of the blue and fixing right click association in Dolphin to work as before (just like they work in system-wide settings).
