SUMMARY Sometimes Dolphin doesn't refresh on paste completion and the pasted file isn't visible. After a refresh it's there. During the copying process the file is visible on the new location but after the copying process finishes, it disappears. You have to refresh to get it visible again. I tried with many directories and there's no matter if there are many, few or zero files. I recorded a video of the problem: https://i.imgur.com/3MF8wmZ.gif STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Copy a file and paste it into a new location. OBSERVED RESULT Sometimes the file disappears and one have to refresh to get it visible again. EXPECTED RESULT The file should not disappear and should stay marked/selected when the copying process finishes. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.8.9-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 32 × Intel® Core™ i9-14900KF Memory: 62.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: ASUS
The problem is still here in 24.05.0.
Can confirm, happens sometimes (but rarely) on KDE Neon User edition.
For me it's very often. I'm working with files a lot and it occures pretty often and it's very frustrating and time consuming. It's a file manager and if a file manager can't work with files, it's bad. My obserations are it never happens with folders though - only with files.
Plasma 6.1 - the problem is still here. With such serious bug I'm really baffled how nobody cares at all. Hello?
This nasty bug is relentless. Earlier I wrote that it's only for files, not for folders but it seems it's not true. I just pasted a folder and it disappeared. I don't know if the bug description is correct though. I'm in doubt it's a refresh problem. The pasted file/folder is there until the copiyng process and disappears once the process is finished. Please watch the attached video for details.
Plasma 6.1.2 - the problem is still here. It's beyond me how nobody cares for such severe problem.
New day, new update - I have a movie and a sample in a folder. There are no other files in this folder. I downloaded subtitiles in a temp dir and I moved the subtitles (archived file) to the folder with the movie and the sample files. In the moment i pasted the subtitles, both the movie and the sample disappeared. It seems it's not for refreshing. These files were there 30 minutes earlier. There's not a single reason Dolphin should hide them on a pasted file completion.
After some updates now the file disappears even during the copying process. I hit refresh and it appears again. When the copying process is finished, the file disappears again and I have to refresh again. It's a real disaster.
The problem suddenly disappeared.
