Description maxlefou 2024-05-04 10:18:43 UTC
SUMMARY
At random times while booting, the desktop panels are not appearing and the desktop seems to have a crash

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Just boot and login using Plasma X11

OBSERVED RESULT
Sometimes everything loads correctly as intended. But some other times, the desktop panels are not appearing. Their space is pitch black with the correct size but doesn't load. The widgets are appearing but aren't moved if they're too close, unlike the usual. Even worse, it seems to freeze the desktop entirely, since no windowed program can be launched. (I can't even launch spectacle to show a screenshot of it when it happens) The only programs that works are the ones launched on boot before the panels are supposed to appear. (discord vivaldi and yakuake in my case) The widgets are also frozen, and right click doesn't do anything on the desktop. Rebooting might fix the problem. Or not.

EXPECTED RESULT
The desktop should load correctly at every boot.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Haven't tried on wayland due to other problems under wayland. Using Nvidia GPU with proprietary drivers. The panels are floating type with transparency effects. Not sure if it's related, but might be... Sorry if it has been posted already, I looked for it.

Does this happen on Wayland too? Or only X11?
