*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY Opening dolphin with a keyboard shortcut (Ex. Meta+E) when Dolphin is minimized and the "Keep a single Dolphin window, opening new folders in tabs" setting is checked doesn't bring up Dolphin automatically on the Plasma Wayland session. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Log into a Plasma Wayland session. 2. Open Dolphin. 3. Go to Settings > Configure Dolphin and check the setting under "Folders & Tabs" for "Keep a single Dolphin window, opening new folders in tabs". 4. Minimize Dolphin. 5. Hit a keyboard shortcut to bring up Dolphin, such as the default Meta+E. OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin acknowledges the action by flashing in the panel, but it does not bring up the window. EXPECTED RESULT The Dolphin window is brought up. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: EndeavourOS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - I have Focus Stealing prevention set to None. - This issue does not occur in the Plasma X11 session. - Double clicking a file on the desktop under the same conditions in the Plasma Wayland session performs the expected action.
I also noticed this bug occurs regardless of the tab setting if attempting to open an already-opened directory in Dolphin through some other means, such as "Show containing directory" in VLC or "Open folder" in FSearch. The result is the same as the observed result described in the ticket.
For me, that setting does nothing and it just opens another window, interesting.
Now I'm thinking this is a KWin problem since the same issue occurs on with Firefox when opening a link when the window is not focused.
