Application: plasmashell (5.24.7) Qt Version: 5.15.3 Frameworks Version: 5.92.0 Operating System: Linux 6.5.0-28-lowlatency x86_64 Windowing System: X11 Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS DrKonqi: 5.24.5 [KCrashBackend] -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: No problem till hibernate around 11 PM yesterday evening. After having switched back on the laptop around 8:30 AM this morning, the Plasma bug assistant showed off. Not noticed anything really weird in the laptop behaviour, for other softwares currently opened. I often proceed like this and it is the first time it happens. The only difference I can think of wrt to usually when everything is working fine, is that currently some updates are pending. The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible. -- Backtrace: Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Aborted [KCrash Handler] #4 __pthread_kill_implementation (no_tid=0, signo=6, threadid=140014245571008) at ./nptl/pthread_kill.c:44 #5 __pthread_kill_internal (signo=6, threadid=140014245571008) at ./nptl/pthread_kill.c:78 #6 __GI___pthread_kill (threadid=140014245571008, signo=signo@entry=6) at ./nptl/pthread_kill.c:89 #7 0x00007f579f442476 in __GI_raise (sig=sig@entry=6) at ../sysdeps/posix/raise.c:26 #8 0x00007f579f4287f3 in __GI_abort () at ./stdlib/abort.c:79 #9 0x00007f579f489676 in __libc_message (action=action@entry=do_abort, fmt=fmt@entry=0x7f579f5dbb77 "%s\n") at ../sysdeps/posix/libc_fatal.c:155 #10 0x00007f579f4a0cfc in malloc_printerr (str=str@entry=0x7f579f5ded20 "malloc(): unaligned tcache chunk detected") at ./malloc/malloc.c:5664 #11 0x00007f579f4a53dc in tcache_get (tc_idx=<optimized out>) at ./malloc/malloc.c:3195 #12 __GI___libc_malloc (bytes=200) at ./malloc/malloc.c:3313 #13 0x00007f579fcd84c1 in QArrayData::allocate(unsigned long, unsigned long, unsigned long, QFlags<QArrayData::AllocationOption>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #14 0x00007f579fd23f94 in QByteArray::QByteArray(int, Qt::Initialization) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #15 0x00007f579fd53c06 in QString::toLatin1_helper(QString const&) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #16 0x00007f57a098c10d in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5 #17 0x00007f57a098eaf8 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5 #18 0x00007f57a098f4e6 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5 #19 0x00007f579fee878a in QObjectPrivate::connectImpl(QObject const*, int, QObject const*, void**, QtPrivate::QSlotObjectBase*, Qt::ConnectionType, int const*, QMetaObject const*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #20 0x00007f579fee8b15 in QObject::connectImpl(QObject const*, void**, QObject const*, void**, QtPrivate::QSlotObjectBase*, Qt::ConnectionType, int const*, QMetaObject const*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #21 0x00007f570911ae72 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #22 0x00007f570918a881 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #23 0x00007f5709120956 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #24 0x00007f57091214b0 in NetworkManager::findNetworkInterface(QString const&) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #25 0x00007f57093a127d in () at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/org/kde/plasma/networkmanagement/libplasmanm_qmlplugins.so #26 0x00007f579fef1793 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #27 0x00007f57090fbac9 in NetworkManager::Notifier::deviceAdded(QString const&) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #28 0x00007f5709120871 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #29 0x00007f579fef1793 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #30 0x00007f57090f99e6 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #31 0x00007f57090f9fa3 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5NetworkManagerQt.so.6 #32 0x00007f57a099159b in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5 #33 0x00007f579fee741e in QObject::event(QEvent*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #34 0x00007f57a0b6c713 in QApplicationPrivate::notify_helper(QObject*, QEvent*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Widgets.so.5 #35 0x00007f579feb9e3a in QCoreApplication::notifyInternal2(QObject*, QEvent*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #36 0x00007f579febcf27 in QCoreApplicationPrivate::sendPostedEvents(QObject*, int, QThreadData*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #37 0x00007f579ff13a67 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #38 0x00007f579e3c7d3b in g_main_context_dispatch () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #39 0x00007f579e41d258 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #40 0x00007f579e3c53e3 in g_main_context_iteration () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #41 0x00007f579ff130b8 in QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #42 0x00007f579feb875b in QEventLoop::exec(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #43 0x00007f579fec0cf4 in QCoreApplication::exec() () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #44 0x00005ff6cd575dce in () #45 0x00007f579f429d90 in __libc_start_call_main (main=main@entry=0x5ff6cd574f70, argc=argc@entry=1, argv=argv@entry=0x7fff9c219aa8) at ../sysdeps/nptl/libc_start_call_main.h:58 #46 0x00007f579f429e40 in __libc_start_main_impl (main=0x5ff6cd574f70, argc=1, argv=0x7fff9c219aa8, init=<optimized out>, fini=<optimized out>, rtld_fini=<optimized out>, stack_end=0x7fff9c219a98) at ../csu/libc-start.c:392 #47 0x00005ff6cd575ef5 in () [Inferior 1 (process 2424) detached] Possible duplicates by query: bug 486272, bug 486177, bug 485764, bug 485674, bug 485633. Just reminded about something relevant: a few hours before hibernating the laptop, I had used command aft-mtp-mount so to access via USB cable to my Android smartphone. By mistake, I had disconnected it without using fusermount -u command first, and this had made KDE application crash tool to show up, related to aft-mtp-mount . After that there was no other bug until the hibernate.
I'm afraid Plasma 5.24 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27, which is possible by upgrading from your current Ubuntu version to 24.04. If for some reason this is impossible and you need support for Plasma 5.24, please contact your distro's maintainers, who bear the responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS releases. If this issue is still reproducible in either Plasma 6.0 or 6.1, feel free to re-open this bug report. Thanks for understanding!
