Go to system settings -> mouse and enable natural (inverted) scrolling 2. Scroll over brightness or sound 3. When your fingers are going up (which should be to lower a value), the action is opposite (value getting higher) OBSERVED RESULT Brightness increasing or sound increasing when fingers are moving UP the trackpad. This is default behavior for normal scrolling EXPECTED RESULT The values should be decreasing (effectively multiplying by a -1) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora KDE Workstation 40/6.0.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0
+1, Can reproduce with any scrollable icon in systray (volume and brightness) I have natural / inverted scrolling on for both my trackpad and mouse wheel, and it does the same for both, maybe make diff. scrolling directions toggleable in systray config? eitherway, I'm not sure this is intended behaviour or not. Can reproduce. Operating System: KDE neon 6.0 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.5.0-28-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
This is intentional -- scrolling up/right always increases, regardless of the setting for natural scroll. (https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/qqc2-desktop-style/-/merge_requests/336)

Is there any way to revert this? This was not the usage in KDE 5, and it's unintuitive that the scrolling is always one direction, even if mouse scroll is intentionally inverted.

RESOLVED INTENTIONAL?! This is super unintutive! Scrolling down a (web) page with natural scrolling is in my mind conception the same as scrolling down the audio plasmoid to lower the volume but Plasma 6 on Wayland doesn’t respect that. I can’t even follow the reasoning here: »We always want the slider to increase its value when scrolling up or right, no matter the inverted scrolling setting.« Why, for God’s sake?
I don't know, but now I don't even use the scrolling function on the taskbar at all. I use my function keys. KDE might have as well removed scrolling entirely...
