Description ChronosXYZ 2024-04-12 21:09:59 UTC
SUMMARY
I have a problem where my display configuration resets after I wake up my laptop from the sleep. I have setup of laptop with external screen. My laptop has Optimus configuration (Intel/Nvidia). I use package called 'suse-prime' which helps to set Nvidia as my primary GPU and turn off Intel GPU completely. I use X11. Display configuration resets in a way where a) my screens overlay each other (so I have to move one display to the left of another in settings again and again); b) i have one working (external) screen with no panels on it and laptop screen is turned off (there is no 'primary' checkbox in settings anymore and laptop screen is turned off in settings as well). This happens constantly after suspend and I am setting right configuration again and again.
This began to appear after I upgraded to Plasma 6.
Also I've turned off Kwin compositor and use picom for it because of lags and critical bugs which still are not fixed unfortunately. This bug still reproduces in default Kwin configuration, so I don't think it is somehow related to picom.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in external screen to the laptop
2. Close the lid
3. Wait till laptop will go to the sleep
4. Open the lid

OBSERVED RESULT

Display configuration resets.

EXPECTED RESULT

Display configuration should stay the same.

I can record the video if the description is not very clean. Pretty annoying and it hasn't been fixed in 6.0.4 release.

Does this also happen if you disable the KScreen2 background service in system settings?
