Thanks. Can't reproduce it myself. I've seen it in the past, but it stopped happening long ago.

It's somewhat tricky. If I hide the brightness entry it never happens, but playing around with the entry switching back to breeze icon theme sometimes but very rarely n then switching back to papirus it stops happening. But deleting the panel n starting fresh can make it happen with breeze as well as long as the brightness entry is present

On my Arch Linux system I observed a similar "empty space". It turned out to be the keyboard layout indicator, which was not able to determine the current keyboard layout and therefore displayed nothing.

I was able to solve this by setting the keyboard layout through KDE's system settings or using "localectl set-keymap XY".

Thanks Sebastian. Sounds like that was something else.

Axel, if you click in the empty spot, does anything happen? And do you have the Activity Switcher widget on your panel? Or are you using an icons-and-text Task Manager, perhaps with multiple rows?
Comment 8 Axel 2024-05-11 13:43:24 UTC
I'm on Fedora KDE now, I can't reproduce this even if I try. I can't reproduce it either on neon unstable. I don't have arch available to test anymore, maybe I should close this as an Arch specific issue?

Thanks! I guess your issue is fixed now and others have a different issue. Those still able to reproduce the issue in Plasma 6.0.5 (which is being released in a week, and contains a fix for this issue when you have an Activity Switcher widget in your panel) should open new bug reports. Thanks everyone!
