STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Set a bunch of tray icons to always hidden

OBSERVED RESULT
See screenshot

EXPECTED RESULT
No empty space before expand button

Haven't seen reports of this in Plasma 6.1, and we did fix up some panel and System Tray code in ways that could have helped. Can you see if it's still reproducible with 6.1.3 (or later) or current git master?
