STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. turn on laptop and plug the power cable 2. the battery begins to charge but no battery icon shows up on system tray 3. there's no way to check the battery status when charging OBSERVED RESULT no battery on system tray when charging EXPECTED RESULT battery icon shows on system tray when charging the hides when fully charged. it also shows up when using battery only. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux, kernel 6.8.x (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
for context, the system tray icon is set to show when needed. on plasma 5, it was working correctly. now this issue happens.
This is an intended change with Plasma 6.0. The rationale was that if you're not running on battery, there is not much need to knowing how much you have left. And we want to keep the system tray clear with only items that need your permanent attention or interaction. If you want to always see your battery status even when plugged in, you can set the applet to Always shown in the system tray configuration.
