The screen switching applet/pop up (where is provides switch to extrernal/switch to laptop/extend left etc. etc. keeps appearing every few seconds. Nothing is being plugged into any of the video ports. This mostly happens when the laptop (HP DV6 1382ea) is on battery power. It rarely  happens (but has a couple of times) on AC power.

I had this same bug on Plasma 5 on both Solus, Arch based and Opensuse Tumbleweed where the resolution was to disable Kscreen2 in the background services section of System Settings.

SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. power on laptop with no external monitors attached
2. unplug AC power to leave on battery power 
3. do nothing else

OBSERVED RESULT
Screen switcher pop up appears. If any option is selected nothing happens. The pop up reappears anywhere between 1 sec. and 15sec. later

EXPECTED RESULT
no screen switcher pop up unless a monitor is plugged into a video port.
