Created attachment 167867 [details] Command line output after "kstart plasmashell" until issue is triggered a second time. *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY Since upgrading to Plasma 6, I've experienced an issue where the bottom panel occasionally becomes unresponsive, and notifications, switching apps, etc, does not work. Fortunately, when pressing the super key on my keyboard, the application menu still pops up and allows me to launch apps... I have been using this as a workaround by using it to launch Konsole and restart plasmashell, which seems to correct the issue temporarily. This behavior has persisted from Plasma 6.0.0 through plasma 6.0.3, and further experiences suggest that it is tied to the monitors being off (via the energy saving settings), as the issue only ever occurs after resuming from that state. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Lock Screen, or leave system idle long enough to enter the lock screen. 2. Press the escape button, or wait until screens turn off 3. Wait an uncertain period (can be anywhere from 30 seconds to several hours, though the longer you wait the more likely it is to be an issue.) 4. Log back in. OBSERVED RESULT Panel is unresponsive. Hovering does not highlight icons or show previews, and clicking does not switch apps, open menus, etc. Occasionally, Icons seem to be out of order as well while in this unresponsive state. EXPECTED RESULT Panel works as normal. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Nobara Linux 39 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Running on Wayland, with an AMD GPU (RX 6800). System has 3 monitors, with panel only appearing on the primary. Monitors have different resolutions / refresh rates. All are set to adaptive sync and to allow screen tearing, do not have scaling applied, and are connected via display port. Monitors are set not to search for inputs, and thus no longer disconnect / reconnect when in power save mode. - Using the Vanilla KDE version of Nobara, with the default Breeze Dark Global Theme. - Attached is the output of plasmashell to command line between restarting plasmashell to fix the issue once, then manually retriggering the issue ~30 seconds later. Cannot consistently trigger the issue on such short timeframes.
As an update: triggered again today, so I tried more things, to see if anything would work. Was able to launch windows for OBS, Heroic, And Steam from the system tray, but not from the "Icons Only Task Manager". System Tray icons also popped up tooltips when hovered over. Issue may be limited to "Icons Only Task Manager", which is unreponsive in any way, and the application launcher icon, which is also unresponsive to any mouse input but still responds to the super key.
Kept forgetting to come back and update on this, so I apologize for how long it's been, but it started working again after I installed the 6.0.4 update and hasn't come back since.
