SUMMARY Resizing windows sometimes freezes them for a few seconds. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Write https://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/test/40_Beta/Spins/x86_64/iso/Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-40_Beta-1.10.iso using `flatpak install https://dl.flathub.org/repo/appstream/org.fedoraproject.MediaWriter.flatpakref && flatpak update app/org.fedoraproject.MediaWriter/x86_64/stable --commit=08f95f0584ba56e427555192146ebe9f4e558521bff8588d7fa83998ad184b86`. 2. Boot the Live installer. 3. Resize a window for 3+ seconds. This isn't consistently reproducible, so that's the best I can provide. OBSERVED RESULT It shall freeze after a few seconds of being resized, but no inactivity desktop affect is applied, and it responds again after 3 seconds of being unresponsive. EXPECTED RESULT It should continually and immediately respond to resize attempts by the user. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: cpe:/o:fedoraproject:fedora:40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.8.1-300.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 ร AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor Memory: 30.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5700 Manufacturer: ASRock Product Name: X670E Taichi ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Occured on cpe:/o:opensuse:tumbleweed:20240320 and cpe:/o:fedoraproject:fedora:40.
This might be downstream as the app is responsible for responding to the resize event.
(In reply to fanzhuyifan from comment #1) Downstream where, though? The example I've provided of Anaconda is merely one example - as aforestated, this occurs on openSUSE Tumbleweed too, which doesn't even provide a live installer image, much less one with Anaconda. KWin appears to be the sole commonality between those installations.
Can you reproduce the issue in 6.1.5 or 6.2? We fixed a similar issue a while ago.
(In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #3) It hasn't occurred to me on my Fedora 40 KDE Spin installation for some time (I'm using 6.1.5) but I'll create a USB stick and test there too. Though, the live image might be rather out-of-date by now. I'm really regretting not having attached a reproduction video when I initially filed this.
Created attachment 174144 [details] Screenshot of the to-be-tested installation media configuration. (In reply to Roke Julian Lockhart Beedell from comment #4) Actually, I'll use the F41 Beta live installation image to remediate that.

(In reply to Roke Julian Lockhart Beedell from comment #5) I don't recall seeing it when I briefly booted it, and *I certainly haven't experienced it for a few weeks*. Consequently, this can probably be considered to be resolved. I expect that https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484553#c3 was correct. I'll set it to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, unless FIXED is better.
(In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #3) For reference, since you mentioned a specific version, my current environment is as undermentioned: > ```YAML > Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 > KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.1 > KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0 > Qt Version: 6.7.2 > Kernel Version: 6.11.4-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) > Graphics Platform: Wayland > Processors: 12 ร AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor > Memory: 30.4 GiB of RAM > Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5700 > Manufacturer: ASRock > Product Name: X670E Taichi > ``` Thanks for the assistance.
