STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Digikam
2. Opens in Thumbnail view
3. Double click Thumbnail display error in viewing pane "Failed to Load Image"

OBSERVED RESULT

Please provide the image that is not loading or create a DebugView Log of the loading process as described here:

https://www.digikam.org/contribute/

The issue is currently unknown and cannot be reproduced here.

Apologies - Now working I had to use the refresh option using the right mouse menu context
I selected the folder in albums then refresh and now working

Hmm, maybe renamed files externally and disabled scanning at startup?
