Description simon 2024-03-21 22:14:04 UTC
SUMMARY
***
This is another issue when running Kdenlive on a multiple monitor setup. I use 3 monitors and have the main Kdenlive program window on the central monitor display. If I undock the Project Monitor tab and move it onto my right hand monitor, when I then hover over the top right area and select the 'Switch Full Screen' option, I first get a spinning blue circle icon for a few seconds before the whole program instantly crashes. This bug replicates every time.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. (User must be running a multiple monitor setup) Undock/detach the Project Monitor tab and place it onto another monitor
2. Hover over the top right area until the menu icons appear and select the first 'Switch Full Screen' button
3. Kdenlive freezes for a few seconds with a spinning blue circle icon and then just crashes and quits.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kdenlive crashes and quits every time when following the above steps

EXPECTED RESULT
User expects to be able to undock the Project Monitor tab and place it on another monitor and then be able to select Switch Full Screen to get the video playback to go to fullscreen.

Hi and thanks for your report. I recently fixed a monitor fullscreen crash under Windows for the upcoming 24.02.1 release. Since I don't have a Windows multi monitor setup, could you test if your crash is also fixed in the daily builds:
https://cdn.kde.org/ci-builds/multimedia/kdenlive/release-24.02/windows/

Thanks, yes, the daily build seems to have fixed this specific bug! It does seem quite buggy in general with a multi monitor setup but I appreciate it's hard for you to test if you don't have a Windows multi monitor installation so I'll try to add any bugs when I find them. If you want me to test any specific multi monitor issues just let me know. Thanks!
