Description mox 2024-03-19 22:12:44 UTC
Skytopia SunsetScreen is a program I used on windows that is my gold standard for this type of function.

A few very nice features are global hotkeys to enable/disable the night color, or to be able to invert the day/night colors.

In my workflow looks like:
 - While the sun is outside my window have night color disabled.
 - While the sun is indirect turn night light on (daytime color)
 - If I need to do color sensitive work, press the global hotkey to disable night light
 - If I want to stay up later than usual, or play a game late, invert day/night color until I chose to finish winding down and put it back to normal. (eg my settings are day is 3300K, night is 1300K, hotkey to make day is 1300K night is 3300K)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484177 I've just opened this wishlist request, which may or may not better cover your usecase?

It does not. My primary interest is being able to invert day/night color, and essentially delay "sunset" at will, without a timer. I almost always have a 3300k daylight color on, which makes a per application exceptions not great for me, since exceptions will always go upwards to the default 6-6.5k (i forget what the default is exactly).

I do think there should be a full screen apps exception list or toggle, and that should be relatively easier to implement, since iirc with the way these programs generally work, it may be very difficult to except only a region of the screen from the filter. That may cover your use case, but that's neither here nor there.
