Description jimbo 2024-03-19 00:41:13 UTC
I have a few settings that a recent update has overwritten.

Tools -> Toolbars Shown -> Main Menu
Tools -> Toolbars Shown -> Hamburger Menu Toolbar
View -> Tool Views -> Show Sidebar

I think what is happening is that when an update is made to the above it defaults back to the original setting when it shouldn't overwrite the users preference.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run an old version of Kate and disable the above settings
2. Update Kate

OBSERVED RESULT
The hidden bars have returned

EXPECTED RESULT
Kate should respect the users previous settings and not overwrite them

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon 6.0
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Kernel Version: 6.5.0-25-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

You are right that this is suboptimal. But that is now out in the world and can not be fixed without introducing additional pain for others.
I would assume that is a small inconvenience for a large update. A similar issue happens with the font settings unfortunately.
