Description Konstantin 2024-03-15 06:40:16 UTC
Sometimes the microphone icon disappears from the bottom panel and the notification about turning on and off the microphone, sound, language change flies to the upper left corner of the monitor.

There should be a microphone icon next to the speaker icon at the bottom.

For more information, see the video. I did not find out what this is related to.

After the reboot, everything works fine.

Hi - are you able to confirm if this is still happening? If so is there any more information you can share? On my Neon Thinkpad I get the notification in the center of my screen when I enable and disable the microphone. I never see an icon in the system tray - I wonder whether that could be a Pipewire thing?

Yes. The problem still arises. For reasons I don't understand, notifications fly to the top corner. I didn't find any patterns.

The bug happens several times a day. Only a reboot helps.

OK - can you please provide a full list of your system specs, distro, Plasma version, and especially any graphics cards, Wayland vs X11, and anything else you think might be relevant here? Then hopefully if someone else can reliably reproduce this it can be confirmed as a bug. Thanks.

Most often, the problem occurs when I play games through Lutris and stream in OBS. Sometimes I need to turn off the microphone and turn it back on.

But I do not know if this could be the reason. Also, after yesterday's update, I lost the notification volume setting.

I have attached a screenshot.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Kernel Version: 6.8.1-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 32 × Intel® Core™ i9-14900KF

Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080/PCIe/SSE2

Thanks - I'll leave this here for now hoping someone else with a similar set-up can have a go at duplicating this. Meanwhile if further updates improve or solve this please update the bug. Thanks again, Nick

Unfortunately, the problem remains. It happens during the stream. Stream via OBS. I run the game "Untitled Goose Game" in Lutris and either the sound in the abs disappears completely (stops seeing the microphone and speakers). The speaker's sign flashes (appears and disappears). Sound Devices appear and disappear in the list of sound devices.

The problem occurs when entering or exiting the game. About once every 3 days.

I'm also experiencing this issue. I've never experienced this with Plasma 5. It only started with Plasma 6.

I found a way to reproduce quickly:

1. setup the system to have two screens (I have the laptop screen and an external screen), and set the external screen to be the primary;
2. unplug the external screen;
3. wait for the system to adapt to the new setup;
4. plug the screen again;
5. try to set the volume;
6. you should see the volume window in the upper left corner of one screen. It won't even move to the other screen properly.

It is also possible to simply turn off the screen by using the proper Plasma shortcut.

To fix: logout and then login again.

I can reproduce in a few seconds.
