SUMMARY
One can't change files icon if "Browse" is selected. There's no problem if I choose "All', "Mimetypes", "Actions", etc. but when I choose Browse to select a custom Icon, the dialog closes itself immediately and I can't choose anything.

Comment 4 cprog 2024-03-15 05:19:28 UTC
Same here
Comment 5 mozo 2024-03-15 09:29:48 UTC
Just realized that the bug occurs only on X11.
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2024-04-09 22:44:19 UTC
Works for me on Wayland.

Is anything *crashing*? Can affected folks look for crash logs using `coredumpctl --reverse`?

If not, please run `journalctl -f` and see if anything is printed when the dialog abruptly closes.

> Is anything *crashing*? Can affected folks look for crash logs using

No, the window just closes itself as if the close button is pressed.
Comment 8 Nate Graham 2024-04-09 22:59:28 UTC
Then please get the journal logs I asked for.
Comment 9 mozo 2024-04-09 23:01:36 UTC
I will but in a day or two for I'm already reverted to Plasma 5 and I have to backup and restore again. Plasma 6 isn't there yet - too many bugs.
Comment 10 mozo 2024-04-10 08:32:59 UTC
In the meantime you can try it yorself - the bug is 100% reproducible on every single macihine. Then you can see the logs and whatever you want.
Comment 11 mozo 2024-04-10 09:40:50 UTC
'coredumpctl --reverse' doesn't show anything.

Here's the log from 'journalctl -f' when I try the browse button of the icon picker:

Three minor Plasma versions and this bug isn't fixed yet.
Comment 13 mozo 2024-05-30 09:28:31 UTC
24.05.0 - the problem is still here.
Nate, does the logs showing something useful? Should I give them agin with the newer Dolphin version?
Comment 14 mozo 2024-07-20 09:07:07 UTC
Plasma 6.1.3 - the bug is still here.
Comment 15 mozo 2024-08-30 11:53:10 UTC
Any progress on this? It's still here.
Comment 16 Mozo 2024-10-11 19:04:22 UTC
Plasma 6.2 and we still can't change the icon.
Comment 17 Nate Graham 2024-10-11 20:24:53 UTC
Do I need to delete this account of yours as well, Nick? I know you'll just create another one, and we can both waste our time all day on it. Or, instead, you can be patient instead of annoying. Or you can use Wayland which doesn't have the bug.

Either way, please stop pinging bug reports with annoying comments like that. Obviously the bug is still present since this is marked as CONFIRMED and not RESOLVED FIXED.

Adding the x11-only keyword
