Created attachment 167066 [details] A test archive that reproduces the bug SUMMARY With some (not all, but a significant portion of) 7z archives, selecting "Extract -> Extract here" from within dolphin leads to the file being extracted to the home directory, rather than the current directory within dolphin. I have attached a 7z file (simply containing a folder with an empty text file) that reliably reproduces the issue on my machine. This issue has been occurring for at least a year and is not specific to Plasma 6. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download the attached 7z file to somewhere other than the home directory (I used my downloads folder) 2. Browse to the location in dolphin, right click, extract here OBSERVED RESULT Extracted directory gets created in the home directory EXPECTED RESULT Extracted directory gets created in the current directory SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.7.9-zen1-1-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: ASUS
Hi - interesting bug! I've just tried to duplicate this with your sample file but this extracted correctly into my Downloads folder (which is where the .7z archive was located). I'm on Neon and Plasma 6.0.2. Can you please re-test with the latest updates and either post back the results or close the bug if now fixed? Thanks, Nick.
Strangely, I was unable to reproduce it again with the same file after rebooting (even without an update), so it's a bit unclear what's triggering this issue. Maybe it's not specific files, but some other external condition. Since it's been happening off and on for at least a year, I will keep monitoring and try to figure out what conditions are happening next time it occurs. At this time I don't think it's fixed though.
