SUMMARY On laptop including iio-sensor-proxy, normally I can flip the screen to use in tent mode or tablet mode. With plasma 6, the tray icons become huge if I flip the screen. If I change the "Touch Mode: Automatically enable as needed" to "Never enabled", it prevents the screen from rotating when I flip it. The text "In Touch Mode, many elements of the user interface will become larger to more easily accommodate touch interaction" doesn't suggest that it will disable sensor-based screen rotation. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Flip screen or rotate laptop so the sensors will trigger an automatic screen rotation 2. Observe system tray icon sizes 3. Try to disable touch mode and repeats OBSERVED RESULT Huge tray icon sizes after the screen auto rotates Disabling touch mode prevents the huge tray icon sizes but also auto rotation EXPECTED RESULT The tray icon sizes shouldn't be so huge for "larger to more easily accommodate touch interaction" I should be able to disable the "user interface will become larger" feature without it disabling auto-rotation SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux rolling KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.7.8-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Assuming the bug should file under kwin because the setting is in kwinrc as TabletMode [Input] TabletMode=off
OK I found in display settings the checkbox for Orientation: Automatic "Only when in tablet mode". If I uncheck that, I can disable TabletMode and keep auto screen rotation. So the bug report here only concerns the scale of the icons in Tablet Mode. Or is it touch mode? General settings calls is Touch Mode, and Display Settings calls it Tablet Mode.
The icons becoming bigger is intentional; otherwise they would be too small to tap.
