Description Eamonn Rea 2024-03-10 22:41:27 UTC
SUMMARY
When using the Overview effect's search field, it appears to act as though it has its own clipboard. Nothing can be pasted into it if you haven't copied anything from it before, meaning it cannot paste things from your clipboard. If you do copy something from it, you can only copy/paste it when inside of the Overview effect, as it doesn't save to the regular system clipboard.

For example, if you copy the text "Desktop" to your clipboard and attempt to paste it into the Overview effect, either nothing will get pasted, or the last thing you copied from the Overview effect will get pasted.

Then, enter some text in the Overview effect, such as "Overview", and copy it. You can paste this into the search field of the Overview effect, but if you try to paste elsewhere, it will paste "Desktop" from earlier. The "Clipboard Contents" section of the System Tray which shows the clipboard history will not show the text from the Overview effect.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy some text from the regular Desktop
2. Open the Overview effect
3. The text copied here will not be pasted
4. Copy some text from the Overview effect
5. Attempt to paste outside of the Overview effect
6. The text copied in Step 1 will be pasted
7. Open Overview Effect again and attempt to paste
8. The text copied from Step 4 will be pasted
9. Clipboard Contents section of System Tray does not show the copied text from the Overview effect.

OBSERVED RESULT
Overview effect has a clipboard independent of the rest of the desktop.

EXPECTED RESULT
Overview effect has the same clipboard contents as the rest of the desktop.
