screenshot showing the opaque indicators.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In "Virtual Desktops" section, enable "Show Desktop Layout Indicators" checkbox.
2. Use keyboard shortcuts to switch workspaces.

OBSERVED RESULT

The desktop layout indicators don't render properly. They're opaque blocks.

EXPECTED RESULT

In Plasma 5, you'd get a mini preview of the desktop in question, like a mini version of the Desktop Grid, so you could tell which apps were on which desktop and which were empty.

There were no desktop previews in Plasma 5.

The osd looks weird though. It seems like an issue in the plasma theme. Also try purging the svg cache in .cache to see if it fixes things.

I must be misremembering in that case, and confusing the desktop-grid feature with this one.

Also, FWIW removing the *kcache files from ~/.cache didn't change anything. I'm using the Breeze theme now for testing.

* removing *kcache and ksvg-elements files.

There weren't *thumbnails*; maybe there were little mini pager wireframes in Plasma 5?

If you try the Plasma 6 X11 session, does it work?
Comment 6 Rohitt Vashishtha 2024-03-08 13:07:04 UTC
It doesn't work with the X11 session either, but I went through the commit history looking at the relevant files... and I must be hallucinating the existence of that feature, maybe because the screen-edge shortcut for desktop-grid is currently not shipped and I'm too used to using that to get a quick look at which desktops are empty.

As for the theme, I think its not a theming issue after-all, more of a user issue? I think I know what happened. I took that screenshot when messing around with mixing window decorations and application styles from different themes.

I should close this issue, but I'd love to open a feature request instead.
