Open "Configure Desktop and Wallpaper" and go to "Icons" 2. Untick "Previews: Show preview thumbnails" 3. Restart plasmashell, all folder icons on the desktop now will be reset. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This issue happens to all KDE versions, even 5.27.10 on Debian Sid.
I can't reproduce this issue in Plasma 6, so let's assume it's been fixed there. But please do feel free to re-open this bug report if you discover after upgrading the Plasma 6 that it still happens. Thanks a lot!
Plasma 6 isn't even out yet and you're already treating 5.27.10 as an old unmaintained version that should be dismissed? Also I find this highly despicable to just write this issue off by saying "so let's assume it's been fixed". "let's assume" is not an answer I want to hear from a developer. Just for the sake I installed Arch Linux on a VM with KDE Plasma. Which KDE version get installed on Arch linux? Let's see... Oh, it's 5.27.10! Just like on Debian Stable, Testing and Unstable! And guess what; The issue also happens on Arch Linux with Plasma 5.27.10. So unless there is a higher KDE Plasma version than 5.27.10 that's actually released to the public, I think we should not just dismiss this issue as an "old bug".

Just > like on Debian Stable, Testing and Unstable! Correction to myself: Debian Stable does not come with KDE Plasma 5.27.10. It's 5.27.5. But as my initial bug message already said: This issue happens on both versions, 5.27.5 and 5.27.10. So my point stays valid.
Please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Understand_what_the_resolution_statuses_mean.
And if after upgrading to Plasma 6 (which is being released in 8 days, and should be available on Arch practically instantly) you can still reproduce the issue yourself, let me know and I'll re-open the bug report.
