SUMMARY Unfortunately (?), I've only encountered this once. I have not reproduced it yet, although I'm not in the habit of closing Overview with a shortcut so I may not encounter it again organically. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a bunch of applications running in a Plasma 6 Wayland session. 2. Open Overview. (I did this with a hot corner.) 3. Pres the ESC key. OBSERVED RESULT KWin immediately hangs, with the Overview effect still visible on the screen. Cursor not visible. Restarting plasmashell in a vterm did not resolve the issue, so I had to kill (and lost) my session. EXPECTED RESULT No hang; ordinarily the ESC key closes the effect. I immediately tried to reproduce the issue just now, and this ordinarily works. It's not clear to me what was different about this other instance. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.93.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.7.4-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
Thank you for your bug report! Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this on my end, and I don't think currently we have enough information to proceed. If this happens again, could you switch to a VT and check if kwin is using 100% of CPU? Could you also attach a gdb to the running kwin_wayland and generate a backtrace with debug symbols? (You could also generate a coredump for later use) Thanks!
