STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a recording on a Windows
2. Wait for less than 10 seconds
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
Spectacle process takes more than 16GB of RAM and 100% CPU
It is impossible to stop the recording without killing the spectacle process
EXPECTED RESULT
The recording should have normal ram usage and use a lot less CPU and it should be stoppable.

This has been fixed for the upcoming 24.02 release.
