STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use the shortcut for Spectacle to take a screenshot of a rectangular region, in my case Super+Shift+PrintScr
2. Given that this does nothing, try running spectacle from a terminal
3. Try to run System Settings so that I can copy the version information about my system

OBSERVED RESULT
Super+Shift+D does nothing (note: it was working until a few hours ago)
When run from a terminal, it gives me this error:

```
Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display :0
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb.
zsh: IOT instruction (core dumped)  spectacle
```
When I try to run system setting, it also fails to run. Of this I don't know the command name, so I don't know whether or not it gives the same error.

EXPECTED RESULT
i. Spectacle should run with the shortcut
ii. If it fails, it MUST show an error message; I shouldn't have to run it from a terminal in order to know what's failing. I shouldn't even have to know that it's called Spectacle
iii same for System settings

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

And the "Restart" button from the Start menu is also broken; it does nothing.
Comment 2 php4fan 2024-02-01 19:21:54 UTC
Unsurprisingly, everything works again after reboot.

I would very much appreciate a workaround that doesn't require rebooting.

Your X session broke, nothing KDE can do about it
