Description Henning 2024-02-01 17:09:30 UTC
When the session locks after the default 5min or so, first the clock appears in front of a black background, then a few seconds later the Fedora background appears.

Fedora Kinoite 40 Prerelease

I'm seeing a black screen for about a second, maybe less, then the clock flashes on screen followed by the wallpaper a half second later.

I see what Doug sees. And that's the expected UX: a fade to black, and then both the clock and wallpaper fade in.

Henning, if I recall correctly, aren't you having major performance issues all over the place? Can you verify that your system isn't under heavy load when this happens? If it is, I think you have to expect that things are going to slow down. :)

No the system was very normal. I was using the official Fedora Kinoite beta release, without automatic updates afaik and I didnt enable thise. rpm-ostree always eats up way too many resources but the system was at idle.

It wasnt that it was black and both faded in, but the clock first on a black background, and the image was delayed for at least a second or 2
