Description Marco Martin 2024-02-01 12:24:10 UTC
SUMMARY
On wayland on a convertible laptop, switching repeatedly between tablet mode and desktop mode, after a few times returning to desktop mode the touchpad won't get enabled anymore, even tough the osd message "touchpad enabled" still appears.
Conneting a mouse still works, the pointer will reappera and can be moved, but still only with the mouse and not the touchpad.

Is this on X11? I don't recall seeing that OSD on Wayland, even when I use my convertible in a way that disables the touchpad and keyboard.

yep, is on wayland and also what happens when folding the screen might change a bit on different hardware (perhaps on yours it stops accepting touchpad events hardware-side but doesn't tell the system it has being disabled?)

Have been having this issue today a few times. When it does happen, I go back into tablet mode and then back to desktop the touchpad responds normally for around 5 seconds and then gets disabled again, best way to fix seems to be a restart.

I'm using an Asus Zenbook Flip (UP3404V), going into tablet mode by flipping the keyboard behind the display. Using KDE 6.1.4 on Wayland, latest KDE Neon User Edition
