Created attachment 165372 [details] Problem shown with slow animation speed SUMMARY When you open a widget like Application Launcher or the clock widget, there is an animation which makes the window appear slightly white. This effect doesn't seem to apply immediately as the widget appears on the screen, and gives a kind of flickering appearance as the bottom of the window suddenly switches from a darker shade to having the whitening effect applied. The effect is easiest to see with a slow animation speed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Decrease the animation speed (to see the effect easily, although it still exists with a higher speed and causes a flickering effect) 2. Click on a widget like the system clock or application launcher OBSERVED RESULT The colour of the widget is darker at the bottom because the whitening effect is not applying immediately. EXPECTED RESULT The widget is a single uniform colour throughout the entire animation SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 39 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 Kernel Version: 6.6.13-200.fc39.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Mhh, no, this is its own bug; it's about the contrast effect being applied incorrectly, rather than having the contrast effect at all
I'm completely unable to reproduce the issue depicted in the screen recording with today's git master. I tested with the same bottom panel, Breeze Dark, slow animations, a colored wallpaper, and opening and closing Kickoff. Everything looks perfect to me. Are you still able to reproduce the issue, John?
This is fixed by https://invent.kde.org/plasma/libplasma/-/merge_requests/1044, sorry, missed it
