Description chimney@thespicers.net 2024-01-23 12:21:13 UTC
If you delete an image in digikam there should be a quick way to undelete it without having to go to the wastebin, find the image then restore it.

Scenario:
* Browse an album, search or tags
* Select a photo and delete it
* Decide you are not sure if you deleted the right item
* Try to undo the action

At present the user has to find the correct Wastebin for the item they deleted, find the item itself, restore the item and then navigate back to where they left off. Navigating to the correct wastebin is not simple when working with a search or tags.

Having to navigate to the wastebin and then back to where you were is time-consuming and not very user friendly. I would expect simply to be able to select Edit -> Undo Delete.

Navigating to the trash time-consuming? How many collections do you have and therefore trash? You don't need to "pick out" the image in the trash. The trash has an undo function, which recursively undoes the last deletions. And it still works weeks later.

I only have two collections at present, but it still takes a while to navigate to the wastebin and then, having restored my item, to get back to where I was so I can carry on where I left off.

Scenarios:
* Search an album by name (eg by typing G)
  * Note the albums list is now filtered and so doesn't show the wastebin
* delete a photo in an album
* clear the search filter
* navigate to the wastebin
* restore the item
* find the album again (hope you remember which one it was!)
* continue...

* Use a tag to find a photo
* delete a photo
* switch to Albums
* find the right collection (hope you can remember which one it was in!)
* navigate to the wastebin...
* ...

I had not even noticed that the Wastebin has an Undo button at the bottom! This makes things a little bit easier, but it is not easily discoverable. I had searched all the menus for undo and found nothing.
