Description Joe 2024-01-21 22:36:34 UTC
SUMMARY
***
KSTARS consistently crashes on my Macbook air M2 if I used the Dark wizard tool more than once. The fix is to erase dark frame masters from KSTARS and from the Macbook drive folder before subsequent use. The same issue was not seen during trials with a Windows 11 PC.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I ran the dark wizard for my guide camera ... 5 exposures each over 1-5 second range.
2. Immediately repeat step 1.

OBSERVED RESULT
KSTARS crashes

EXPECTED RESULT
old darks + masters are overwritten

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS: Sonoma 14.2.1
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I was able to fix the issue by manually deleting the old masters using the wizard AND manually deleting the files on my MAC...I had to do both. I could then rerun the dark wizard without the crash.
