SUMMARY

With settings General->Text display set to Dekstop name, initially no text is displayed.
If I change to 'No text', apply and the change back to 'Desktop name', desktop names are displayed as expected.
This lasts until restart, then the same has to be repeated.

Can reproduce. Oddly enough plasmashell --replace is not enough to trigger it, it has to be a reboot

...and now I can't reproduce any more. Something in the initialization of the model might be racy
