Description Barnaby 2024-01-18 21:03:41 UTC
SUMMARY
When using Dolphin to rip files from a CD, the files retain their read-only permissions once copied to the user’s disk. This can cause confusion when e.g. using tools like Picard to tag and rename files, as it will complain that the files are “corrupted or inaccessible”. I would expect ripped files to be given the same permissions as any other files created in Dolphin.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open CD in Dolphin
2. Drag files off it into folder on disk

OBSERVED RESULT
The files are read-only

EXPECTED RESULT
The files have the same permissions as any new file created by dolphin (rw-rw-r--)
