Description martin-kokos 2024-01-11 17:09:46 UTC
Mouse cursor stutters moving over Task Manager with window previews enabled. This is mostly noticeable with reduced power profile on a laptop and the processor on lower clock. (XPS13 intel i7-1165G7). For comparison, similar feature in Chrome, Tab previews on hover work smoothly under same circumstances.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be on laptop () and battery profile with reduced speed
2. Have several windows open
3. Move mouse cursor over Task Manager

OBSERVED RESULT
The mouse cursor stutters

EXPECTED RESULT
The cursor should move smoothly

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.27.10
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.113.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Using Wayland
I don't know if there is some inefficiency rendering window preview, but even if there is, it shouldn't impact the smoothness of movement of mouse cursor. Even if there isn't enough time for window preview to appear, the cursor stutters.

This is fixed in Plasma 6 now.
