Unable to reproduce on my system, e.g. Running at 1920x1200 resolution. Open Discover. Go into settings/display configuration. Change to 1680x1050 resolution. Switch back to Discover application <- screen not black, simply resized, icons for apps visible as before. My system: Fedora 39 X11 session. KDE Plasma Version 5.27.10 (same as for your test).
Also cannot reproduce. What does Discover have to do with this?
