Description Thierry GRAUSS 2024-01-08 19:58:44 UTC
I am running Fedora 39 / KDE on a Framework 13 AMD 7640 laptop computer. Internal keyboard : US international
When I use the Kcalc program or the taskbar applet, I can type any number on the keyboard but the 6 key is not working.
The 6 key is working without issue in any other program (Libreoffice, Speedcrunch calculator, terminal...).
If I use an USB keyboard, there is no problem with the 6 key on this external keyboard.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kcalc
2. Type the 6 key on a framework laptop (other laptop ?)
3. Type any other key
4. Type the 6 key in any other program
5. Type the 6 key in Kcalc using a USB keyboard

OBSERVED RESULT
6 key is not registered when using the internal keyboard in Kcalc
6 key registered when using an USB keyboard in Kcalc
6 key registered in any other program using the internal keyboard
Any other key of the internal keyboard in kcalc is working (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,0)

EXPECTED RESULT
6 key must work using the internal keyboard of the laptop in Kcalc

The problem was with deadkeys keymap. When using french qwerty with deadkey keymap, I have this behavior. If I select US international with Altgr deadkey I don't have any problem anymore.
I had the problem with Kcalc but also with Signal and Smarthome3D.

Is the deadkeys keymap a 3rd party software?

If this problem also appears in other software, then it is very unlikely that this is actually a kcalc issue.
